Restaurants, Parks and Activities in Aurora
Aurora, Colorado is a beautiful and unique city located just 20 miles from downtown Denver. You’ll want to take in the mountain air in Aurora. The locals love getting outside for just about anything, whether it’s skiing, boating, camping, fishing, or kayaking. The city boasts “113 parks, 98 miles of trails, and 8,000+ acres of open space”. We like to spend time on the Cherry Creek Reservoir for paddleboarding and fishing.
Aurora has a strong arts scene with public art exhibits placed throughout the city. For shopping, you can’t go wrong with Colorado’s largest indoor marketplace, Stanley Marketplace. You can enjoy more than 50 independently owned restaurants, shops, and bars under one roof. One of our favorite restaurants at Stanley’s is Comida Cantina for its authentic Mexican soul-food. Events to look forward to in Aurora include Global Fest which celebrates the culture and communities that make Aurora so diverse.

Aurora is located between the Denver suburbs of Commerce City and Englewood. Fort Collins is about 64 miles to the north and Colorado Springs is about 70 miles to the south. If you’re a skier or boarder, there are plenty of ski resorts to choose from all within an hour or two from Denver. The closest to Aurora and also considered the most affordable is Echo Mountain. In about two hours you can get to more exclusive ski towns like Breckenridge and Vail. Head to the mountains in the summertime for hiking and camping in the Arapaho National Forest, which is a little over an hour from Aurora. Aurora is served by the Denver International Airport.
